CAFE AMELIE - New Orleans

image31

Nestled in the historic 150-year-old Princess of Monaco Courtyard and Carriage House on Royal Street in the French Quarter, Café Amelie is a rare combination of superb Louisiana fare served in a lush, enchanting New Orleans courtyard setting.

After opening in 2005, Café Amelie quickly became a favorite of New Orleans locals and tourists alike, who faithfully flock to the café for its delicious food and refreshing cocktails.

Café Amelie is known for having one of the most beautiful and romantic courtyards in the Quarter, where patrons can dine al fresco or inside the lovely air-conditioned dining rooms within the historic Carriage House.  We also have a full bar offering an array of signature cocktail creations.  Café Amelie and the accompanying Princess of Monaco Courtyard are also available for private parties, weddings and receptions.

When making your online reservation, please let us know if your preference is for either courtyard (outdoor) or Carriage House (indoor) dining.  Keep in mind that during cold and rainy days, we may utilize our upstairs Blue Room for dining. There is no elevator access to the Blue Room.

Megabus Review - MegaDUD!

I rarely - trust me - rarely, complain about travel, especially during the fear of a hurricane. However, if Megabus cannot servce its customers in Florida during the fear of a hurricane, then it should get out of Florida.

I will NEVER recommend Megabus to ANYONE. I was leaving Fort Lauderdale because of Hurricane Dorian. The bus arrived over two hours late. I received an email updating me on the arrival of the bus AFTER the time the email said it would arrive - and then received no other. The worst was yet to come.

Not only did I not travel on a double-decker comfy-cozy, WiFi-enabled Megabus, but on a Prime bus. The worst was yet to come.

We arrived in Orlando only to find that the bus to Atlanta....HAD ALREADY LEFT. When I asked the attendant what everyone was supposed to do he replied, "Didn't you read the fine print?" REALLY? We were all stranded in Orlando, in an unsafe area, at 1:30AM in the morning. And, all the representative had to say was, "Didn't you read the fine print?" and "You can come here at 7AM when the office opens and see if there's a bus available...I can tell you we're all sold out."

I had to find a hotel room after a cab driver informed me that the closest hotels were in "drug areas" and "not safe". I ended up paying $12 for a cab and a room at Days Inn and paid over $70 for a lousy hotel room, then another $12 for an Uber, plus breakfast. The representative on the Megapone the night I was at the Days Inn could only find me a Greyhound bus leaving at....7:45PM. This was after I was on hold for 45 minutes. She told me she had "a lot of customers on the phone" and that this was the best she could do. I waited from 7AM to 7:45PM....over 12 hours....at the Grehound station in Orlando...with bad food and more than a couple of drunk passengers....to board the Greyhound bus. Fortunately, it left on time, and I arrived in Atlanta at 3AM.

To add insult to injury, I received FIVE redemption codes from Megabus worth $20 each for my difficulties. When I tried to use them for my return trip to Fort Lauderdale, I started receiving emails from "Jasmine". I tried to ask her if I could use them for my ENTIRE trip to Fort Lauderdale but she didn't seem to understand what I was asking. Outsourcing? I wrote over 3 emails to her and she still couldn't comprehend what I was asking. I will be writing a letter to the Florida Department of Transportation. To INSULT me by sending me FIVE $20 redemption codes, suggesting that I would even WANT to travel by Megabus FIVE times shows you folks are out of your minds.

If you can't service Florida, if you can't handle emergency situations, if you can't do your best, even in emergency situations (which I NEVER felt you were even trying to do), then, GET OUT OF FLORIDA.

Your customer service - not being able to reach anyone, not being able to communicate, not responding to emails, your awful representatives - all say to mean you should GET OUT OF FLORIDA.
